Rocky Mountain Rage News Release
Broomfield, Colo. - The Rocky Mountain Rage play their inaugural home game at the Broomfield Event Center tomorrow at 7:05 p.m. when they welcome the Tulsa Oilers to the brand new $43 million arena. The first 5,000 fans in attendance will receive a Rage magnet schedule.
After six road games to begin the season, the Rage make their first appearance at home with a record of 1-3-2 and four points, placing them fourth in the Central Hockey League's Northwest Division. Rocky Mountain then immediately heads back out on the road when the team travels to Lubbock to face the Cotton Kings on Saturday at 6:05 p.m. MST.
Springs Native Preston Briggs Acquired
Rage head coach Tracy Egeland acquired rookie defenseman Preston Briggs from the Oklahoma City Blazers today in exchange for future considerations. The 6-foot-4, 200-lb. d-man grew up in Colorado Springs before heading to Mercyhurst College where he totaled 33 points (5g-28a) and 126 penalty minutes over his four-year career. Following his senior campaign last spring, Briggs turned pro and recorded an assist and 12 penalty minutes for the ECHL's Dayton Bombers. In three games with the Blazers this season, Briggs scored one goal and had yet to receive a penalty.
