SteelHounds Acquire Veteran Tab Lardner

YOUNGSTOWN, OHIO - The Youngstown SteelHounds and Head Coach Kevin Kaminski announced today that the team has acquired forward Tab Lardner from the Arizona Sundogs in exchange for future considerations. The team also announced that forward Jason Spence has been placed on the 45-day injured reserve after having knee surgery. Additionally rookie forward Brian Boike has been waived by the SteelHounds.

Lardner, 26, has dressed in seven games for the Sundogs recording two assists and 12 penalty minutes. The veteran has played in 323 career CHL games and has never missed a contest dating back to 2001-2002 season with the Austin Ice Bats. In his career, the Edmonton native has scored 99 goals with 121 assists and 361 penalty minutes. He had career high totals last season with the Wichita Thunder in goals (25), assists (30), points (128) and PIMs (128). Lardner also has impressive playoff numbers participating in 35 career CHL Playoff games scoring 11 goals and four assists for 15 points.

The 5-11, 175-pound forward has ties to several current Hounds including playing with Chris Richards with the Ice Bats and playing college hockey along side Brad Patterson at Michigan Tech. Lardner's four years at Michigan Tech saw him score 21 goals with 34 assists in 145 career games.

Lardner will be in the line-up on Friday and Saturday when the Hounds play his former team the Arizona Sundogs in their home opener in Prescott Valley, AZ. Face-off is scheduled for 9:00 PM (EST) and fans can pick up the call of the game with Chad Meyer on ESPN Radio-1240, The Fan or via the team's online webcast at www.steelhounds.com. Due to high school football playoffs, both games this weekend will be joined in progress with an anticipated broadcast time of 9:15 PM (EST).
