Bees sign veteran winger Voltera

Hidalgo, Texas --- Hidalgo, Texas --- The Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees of the Central Hockey League (CHL) today announced the signing of veteran right wing Rob Voltera. The 28-year-old spent two seasons with the Hershey Bears, former home of current Bees Head Coach Paul Fixter.
Voltera joins the Bees with 407 regular season pro games under his belt. He has collected 201 points (91-110-210) throughout his career as he enters his eighth season as a pro. He has also accumulated 1,276 PIM.
"Rob is a veteran player who will stick up for his teammates and chip in with some timely offense," said Fixter. "He played in Hershey while I was there and I'm happy to welcome him to the Killer Bees organization."
Voltera began his pro career in Germany following a four-year stint in the Western Hockey League. He returned to North America with the BC (N.Y.) Icemen of the United Hockey League. From there, he donned the sweaters of the Springfield Falcons, San Diego Gulls, Hershey Bears, Quad City Mallards, Victoria Salmon Kings and Rockford IceHogs. He played last season in Rockford and was a teammate of current Bees blueliner Ryan Carrigan. Voltera posted 20 points (7-13-20) and 81 PIM in 38 games.
The Bees host Laredo for the first time this season Friday night at Dodge Arena and will wear special camouflage jerseys that will be auctioned off after the game. The first 1000 fans through the doors will receive a Killer Bees baseball cap courtesy of KGBT-4 and Valley Grande Institute.
Local heroes (servicemen and women, firefighters, police officers, etc), can take advantage of special discounted tickets this Saturday night as the Bees host the Austin Ice Bats and celebrate Veterans Day.
