New Britain, CT - The New Britain Rock Cats have joined forces with the City of New Britain's Health Department to host Immunization Records Night on Tuesday, April 22nd at New Britain Stadium. The evening's 6:35 PM contest between the host Rock Cats and their Eastern League guests, the Reading Phillies, will also be a Rock Cats' Kids Eat Free Night at the Stadium - another inducement for parents to come out to the ballpark on Tuesday night with a copy of their kids' immunization records.

Parents and children will be met at the Stadium's main gates by friendly local Health Department professionals who will review the child's records and advise parents as to their child's current immunization status; Rock Cats staff will also be on hand to award a free game ticket for the evening's 6:35 PM game to every child whose records are presented for review.

Ramona K. Anderson, Immunization Program Coordinator for the New Britain Health Department, stated, "We all think it's great that as parents you are providing proper health care, tied in with exercise and healthy lifestyle choices. Let's all celebrate that together on Tuesday night at the Rock Cats' game!"

A local pediatrician, Dr. Ellen Leonard from the Hospital of Central Connecticut, will throw out the evening's ceremonial First Pitch.

National Infant Immunization Week is being observed from Sunday, April 20th through Saturday, April 26th. State and municipal health departments, private medical providers, public and private schools - and the New Britain Rock Cats - are all cooperating to advance the cause of healthy American children. Each day, some 12,000 infants are born in the United States who will need to be immunized against 14 different diseases before the age of two. Vaccine-preventable diseases are at an all-time low in the United States, but these diseases still exist and ongoing vigilance - and vaccinations - is necessary to protect everyone from potential outbreaks.

Look for the New Britain Immunization Program table at the front gates of New Britain Stadium on Tuesday night. Interested parents and caregivers may contact the New Britain Health Department at (860) 612-2777 for further information.
