GENEVA, IL - The Kane County Cougars will host an Illini Night on Tuesday June 8, as University of Illinois football coach Ron Zook and basketball coach Bruce Weber are both scheduled to appear. Fans attending the 6:30 p.m. game are encouraged to wear orange, and both coaches will throw ceremonial first pitches that night and sign autographs for a limited time inside the stadium.

This fall will mark Zook's sixth season as head football coach for the Fighting Illini, and he was named National and Big 10 Football Coach of the Year in 2007, a season that produced a Rose Bowl appearance.

Weber has helmed the Illinois basketball program since the 2003-04 season and has led the Fighting Illini to five NCAA tournament appearances.

"The University of Illinois has close ties to our organization, and we're encouraging all fans of the ‘Orange and Blue' to come out and support both of their teams - the Fighting Illini and the Cougars," Cougars General Manager Jeff Sedivy said.

The Cougars' ties to the Fighting Illini include Kane County manager Aaron Nieckula, who is an Illinois graduate, was named team MVP in 1998, and played under decorated collegiate coach Itch Jones before being drafted by the A's as a catcher in the 22nd round of the 1998 draft.

Tickets for the June 8 game and Illini Night are available by calling (630) 232-8811, stopping by the ticket office during business hours or visiting www.kccougars.com.
