Carolina Mudcats News Release

Zebulon, NC --- The Cincinnati Reds have made a set of player moves impacting their Double-A affiliate Carolina Mudcats prior to tonight's series opener against the Tennessee Smokies.

IF Jose Castro has been placed on the seven-day disabled list with a hyperextended left knee. RHP Matt Klinker has been reassigned to the Mudcats from Triple-A Louisville, with RHP Clayton Shunick being reassigned to Bakersfield of the California League. Additionally, IF Henry Rodriguez has been promoted to the Mudcats from Bakersfield.

Rodriguez was hitting .340 with eight home runs and 44 RBI with 12 stolen bases for the Blaze. This will be Rodriguez's first Double-A experience.

Castro was injured in the eighth inning of Wednesday afternoon's game while sliding into second base. Klinker has been shuttled between Carolina and the Louisville Bats, compiling a 3-1 mark with a 6.33 ERA over six games this season for Louisville. Shunick appeared in four games with the Mudcats, with an ERA of 5.87 after a promotion from Bakersfield nearly two weeks ago.
