Wichita Thunder News Release
Wichita, KS - Idaho scored two goals in the third period en route to a 5-4 victory over Wichita on Sunday afternoon at INTRUST Bank Arena.
Jakob Stukel led the way for the Thunder with a goal and an assist while Mark MacMillan finished with two helpers.
The first period was a see-saw affair. Wichita struck early for the second game in a row as Pierre-Cedric Labrie scored just 27 seconds into the contest. Spencer Naas tied the game at 5:40 with assists to Jeff King and Alexander Dahl. Keoni Texeira re-gained the lead at 10:53 with a power play goal from the deep slot. Idaho tied it again at 16:54 when Steven McParland beat Dylan Wells for his 16th of the year.
In the second, Stukel came down on an odd-man rush and beat Colten Point to make it 3-2. Less than a minute later, Brady Norrish tied the game again as he tipped home a shot from Dahl. At 16:55, Travis Brown added another power play tally to make it 4-3.
McParland tied the game early in the third with his 17th of the year and second of the contest. The Steelheads took their first lead at 3:07 on the power play as Brad McClure took a give-and-go pass and buried a wrist shot past Ty Rimmer, who replaced Wells during the second period. Wichita pulled Rimmer down the stretch and had one last face-off with two seconds left. Brown and Cuddemi both had chances, but Ryan Faragher stopped both and held on for the win.
Brown has goals in back-to-back games. Stukel has four points in his last three games. MacMillan has nine points in his last six games.
The Thunder remains at home next Friday night to host the Utah Grizzlies starting at 7:05 p.m.
