
IceHogs to open 04-05 season at home against Mallards

Rockford, Ill.- The Rockford IceHogs announced their 2004-05 regular season schedule on Monday, and the Hogs sixth season will get under way on Friday, October 15 at the Rockford MetroCentre against the rival Quad City Mallards. The new schedule's highlights include all 13 UHL squads making at least one visit to the MetroCentre and a franchise high 25 Friday and Saturday games.
The IceHogs will play an 80 game schedule in 04-05, including 40 games at the MetroCentre and 40 away games. The season will conclude on Sunday, March 10 against the Missouri River Otters. The IceHogs will play in the five team Western Division with the Mallards, River Otters, Fort Wayne Komets and the expansion Kansas City franchise.
For the second consecutive season, the IceHogs will not make an East Coast trip, but all four Eastern Division teams will play in Rockford one time, including the first ever visit by the Richmond RiverDogs (Friday, March 18) and the expansion Danbury Trashers (Saturday, January 8). The Elmira Jackals (Sunday, March 13) and Adirondack Frostbite (Saturday, February 12) will also make just one stop to the Forest City.
The IceHogs most frequent opponent during its sixth campaign is the River Otters, playing the rivals a total of 13 times, including six at home. Rockford will face-off against Quad City and Kansas City 12 times and Fort Wayne eight.
Rockford's schedule also features a total of 31 games against the UHL's Central Division, which features five Michigan teams. The IceHogs will square off with the Muskegon Fury and Port Huron Beacons seven times each while the Hogs will play the expansion Motor City Mechanics and Kalamazoo Wings six times. The Hogs and Flint Generals will meet five times in 04-05.
The IceHogs will open the upcoming season with seven of their first eight games at home and will close out the regular season with three straight home affairs. Once again the Rockford will feature home games on Wednesdays (nine total), Fridays (14 total), Saturdays (11 total) and Sundays (six total) throughout the course of the season. Game times for the new schedule have not been released.
