
IceHogs Set 2013-14 Opening Night Roster

Rockford, Ill.- In two days, the Rockford IceHogs, members of the American Hockey League and proud affiliate of the Chicago Blackhawks, will hit the ice to open the 2013-14 season, their 15th season of professional hockey and seventh in the AHL.
The Hogs begin the '13-14 regular season on Saturday with a trip to Texas. The IceHogs start at the AT&T Center in San Antonio to play the Rampage, when the puck drops at 7 p.m. On Sunday the Hogs face-off against the Texas Stars with a 5 p.m. start time.
On a roster of 23 players, 10 are new faces and 13 are returning to the IceHogs for the new campaign. The IceHogs lineup will feature nine players with experience in the National Hockey League, along with a total of nine rookies in which seven will be making their AHL debut.
Also on Thursday, the Blackhawks announced that goaltender Mac Carruth and forward David Gilbert have been reassigned from Rockford to the Toledo Walleye of the ECHL. Additionally, the IceHogs have signed Maxim Shalunov to an AHL contract for the 2013-14 season and loaned defenseman Bobby Shea to the Reading Royals (ECHL).
Listed below is the IceHogs Opening Day Roster:
Forwards (14): Alex Broadhurst, Terry Broadhurst, Wade Brookbank, Phillip Danault, Byron Froese, Drew LeBlanc, Mark McNeill, Brad Mills, Jeremy Morin, Pat Mullane, Brandon Pirri, Garret Ross, Maxim Shalunov and Brad Winchester.
Defensemen (7): Adam Clendening, Klas Dahlbeck, Joe Gleason, Jared Nightingale, Dylan Olsen, Theo Peckham and Viktor Svedberg.
Goaltenders (2): Antti Raanta and Kent Simpson.
Next Home Game: Saturday, Oct. 19 vs. Grand Rapids. Game time is 7 p.m. Rockford opens the home portion of their regular season schedule against the Griffins.
