Newbury Recalled by Philadelphia
October 3, 2013 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Adirondack Phantoms News Release
The Philadelphia Flyers have recalled Kris Newbury (F) from the Adirondack Phantoms. Newbury played in both preseason games for the Phantoms this past weekend recording two assists in the Saturday game vs. the Albany Devils. Newbury will be eligible to play in the Flyers' next game on Saturday night at Montreal.
Kris Newbury, 31, has spent the past couple of seasons with the New York Rangers organization. He has played in 72 career NHL games but it's his AHL statistics that will really catch your eye; 599 games, 142 goals, 297 assists, 439 points. Newbury is one of only two players to have racked up 60 or more points in the AHL in each of the last three seasons. Newbury was acquired by the Flyers organization this past off-season in exchange for Danny Syvret (D).
The Adirondack Phantoms open the 2013-14 regular season this Saturday night on the road against the Hershey Bears. The Phantoms will also travel to the Hartford Wolf Pack next Friday, October 11 and then will have their Opening Night in Glens Falls on Saturday, October 12 against Hartford, AHL affiliates of the New York Rangers. Tickets for the Opening Night game are selling well and are going fast. Fans are encouraged to purchase their tickets ahead of time by calling the Phantoms at 518-480-3355.
