October 14, 2017 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Rockford IceHogs News Release
Rockford, Ill. The Rockford IceHogs host their home opener for the 2017-18 season tonight against the Iowa Wild at the BMO Harris Bank Center.
Puck drop is 6 p.m. and fans can tune in to all the action on Cozi TV 23.3 or Dish Network Channel 252, beginning with IceHogs Warmup at 5:30 p.m. IceHogs fans can also listen to the game at sportsfanradio1330.com or watch live at AHLlive.com (subscription required).
Matchup: The IceHogs and division rival Iowa Wild meet for the first time this season after the Wild were victorious in eight of ten contests in 2016-17. However, Rockford boasts points in 15 of 20 all-time home games against Iowa, going 11-5-2-2 at the BMO Harris Bank Center since 2013-14.
The IceHogs kicked off their season last weekend in Cleveland with a 4-0 win over the Monsters. Goaltender J.F. Berube and forward Tomas Jurco starred for the Hogs, with Berube posting 32 saves and Jurco tallying three points. Head Coach Jeremy Colliton also notched his first win as the IceHogs' bench boss.
Iowa enters tonight's matchup with a record of 1-2-0-0 already, earning its first victory with a shutout of the Ontario Reign last night. The 2017-18 Wild will return several of last year's top scorers, including points leader Pat Cannone, who led Iowa with nine points (3g, 6a) in nine games against the Hogs.
Next Home Game: The Rockford IceHogs take on the Milwaukee Admirals on Sunday, Oct. 15 for First Responders Night/Touch-A-Truck. Kids in attendance will also receive a voucher for a free hot dog, soda and bag of Ole Salty's chips. Tickets can be purchased at IceHogs.com, by calling (815) 968-5222 or in-person at the BMO Harris Bank Center Box Office.
