RALEIGH, NC - Ron Francis, Executive Vice President and General Manager of the National Hockey League's Carolina Hurricanes, today announced that the team has recalled defenseman Trevor Carrick from the American Hockey League's (AHL) Charlotte Checkers and defenseman Trevor van Riemsdyk has been placed on injured reserve.
Carrick, 23, has recorded one assist in two games with the Checkers this season and has earned 90 points (20g, 70a) in 205 career AHL games with Charlotte. The Stouffville, Ont., native was selected by Carolina in the fourth round, 115th overall, in the 2012 NHL Draft. Carrick has appeared in two games with the Hurricanes and made his NHL debut on March 15, 2016 against Washington.
The Carolina Hurricanes kick off a four-game road trip against Winnipeg (7 p.m., FOX Sports Southeast, FOX Sports GO, Hurricanes Radio Network) on Saturday at the Bell MTS Place.
