Rockford IceHogs News Release
Rockford, Ill.- The Rockford IceHogs, proud members of the American Hockey League and top affiliate of the Chicago Blackhawks, announced on Tuesday that they are hosting a Bowl-A-Thon on Sunday, Jan. 23 from 2-5 p.m. at Cherry Bowl in Cherry Valley. The event is sponsored by the WTVO-TV channel 17 and Q98.5.
The 2010-11 IceHogs Bowl-A-Thon will benefit the Sydney Ives Foundation, a non-profit organization - 501 (c) (3) pending - that is designed to help families in the fight for the life of their ill child. Sydney Ives was made an honorary IceHogs team member on May 20, 2009. Sydney was diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumor the year prior. She passed away on Nov. 7, 2009 and the foundation is in her memory.
Registration is $40 per bowler or $150 per team of four. Fans can sign up for the IceHogs Bowl-A-Thon at any IceHogs home game at the Rockford MetroCentre, by calling the Communications Department at the IceHogs office at (815) 847-6381 or by downloading the entry form at www.icehogs.com and faxing it to the IceHogs office at (815) 963-0974.
All registered bowlers will receive three-games of bowling (nine pin), shoe and ball rental, goodie bag and a raffle ticket. Plus, the first 100 bowlers, or 25 teams, to register will be guaranteed to be matched up with an IceHogs player or coach. A media personality from WTVO, Fox 39 or Q98.5 will fill the remaining lanes. The deadline to register is Friday, Jan. 14 at 5 p.m.
