Hamilton, ON - The Hamilton Bulldogs were defeated by the Houston Aeros 3-1 on Tuesday night at Copps Coliseum. The game was tied through two periods until Houston scored the game-winner 17 seconds into the third period.
The Bulldogs opened the game's scoring at 8:48 of the second stanza. Andreas Engqvist sent a pass to Alexander Avtsin, who skated into the slot before snapping a shot that beat Houston starting goaltender Matt Hackett.
The Aeros tied the game 1-1 at 9:23 of the middle frame. Casey Wellman and Robbie Earl skated into the Bulldogs zone on a two-on-one. Wellman dished the puck to Earl, who one-timed a shot over Hamilton starting goaltender Curtis Sanford.
Houston took the lead 17 seconds into the third period. Brandon Buck picked up an attempted pass from a Bulldogs player, before skating off the side-boards and into the slot. Buck proceeded to wrist a shot that beat Sanford through the five-hole. The Aeros sealed the win with an empty net tally from Warren Peters at 19:52.
The Bulldogs will begin a five-game road trip on Friday, December 17th when they travel to Oklahoma City to battle the Barons at 7:05 p.m. EST. All regular season Hamilton Bulldogs broadcasts on AM 820 CHAM will begin with a pre-game show 30 minutes prior to the scheduled start time.
