December 14, 2010 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Charlotte Checkers News Release

RALEIGH, NC - Jim Rutherford, President and General Manager of the National Hockey League's Carolina Hurricanes, today announced that defenseman Bryan Rodney has been recalled from the Charlotte Checkers of the American Hockey League (AHL). Rodney is being recalled on emergency conditions as defenseman Jay Harrison will not travel with the team to its upcoming games in Florida and Atlanta due to an upper-body injury.

Rodney, 26, leads all Checkers blue liners and ranks tied for ninth among AHL defensemen in scoring this season with 18 points (5g, 13a), while playing in all 28 of the Charlotte's games. This marks the first NHL recall this season for the London, Ont., native who is in his sixth professional season, and his third with the Hurricanes organization. Rodney (6'0", 195 lbs.) made his NHL debut with Carolina on Dec. 11, 2008, and has scored one goal and earned 12 assists (13 points) in 30 career NHL regular-season games with the Hurricanes. Carolina signed Rodney as a free agent on May 12, 2008.
