Abbotsford Heat News Release

ROCHESTER NY - Ryan Stone scored his first goal in a Heat uniform and Leland Irving did the rest, stopping all 29 Rochester shots on the night as the Abbotsford Heat opened their four game pre-Christmas road swing with a 1-0 shutout over the Rochester Americans in snowy Rochester on Tuesday night.

The only goal of the game came on the Heat's lone power play of the game. TJ Brodie spotted Ryan Stone in the right faceoff circle on the power play and wired a one timer past Americans goalie Jacob Markstrom to give the Heat the only goal they would need.

Irving would save his best work for the third period, making eleven stops in the final frame, including two huge saves late in the game to preserve the win and his third shutout of the season. Irving robbed former NHL'er Bates Battaglia on a breakaway in the final minutes for his best save of the night.

With the win, the Heat move into sole possession of second place in the North Division, one point back of Division Leaders, the Hamilton Bulldogs.

The Heat will move on to Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania to take on the AHL Leaders, the Wilkes-Barre Scranton Penguins, from the Mohegan Sun Arena. Pregame show on Wednesday will be at 3:50 PM, PST. Drop of the puck will take place at 4:05 PM.
