Louisiana IceGators News Release

Lafayette, LA – The Louisiana IceGators have signed left wing Andrew Proskurnicki, head coach and vice president of hockey operations Dave Farrish announced Thursday. Proskurnicki is traveling with the team to Arkansas, where the IceGators play Friday at 7 p.m.

The 24-year-old Proskurnicki comes out of St. Thomas University in Canada, but he's no stranger to the ECHL. Proskurnicki played 26 games with Mississippi in 1999-2000, accumulating 15 points (6g, 9a) and 146 penalty minutes. The feisty 6-foot-3, 220-pound Proskurnicki had three fighting majors in his first ECHL game that season versus Baton Rouge. He also owns the distinction of ending the longest shootout in IceGators history, lifting the Sea Wolves over Louisiana in the 13th round on December 11, 1999.

In four seasons with St. Thomas, the Hamilton, Ont., native had 83 points (37g, 46a) and 268 penalty minutes in 91 games. His pro totals include 32 games (six at the American Hockey League level), 16 points (6g, 10a) and 153 penalty minutes.

Louisiana heads to Pensacola for a 7:05 p.m. game Saturday, then plays host to Baton Rouge at 4:05 p.m. Sunday.
