Busenburg, Voltera Back To Hershey; Wismer Signed; Grant on IR

SAN DIEGO - The San Diego Gulls have re-loaned Marc Busenburg and Rob Voltera back to the Hershey Bears, signed Robb Wismer and placed Kevin Grant on injured reserve, the West Coast Hockey League club announced today.

Busenburg, who's spent the majority of this season with the American Hockey League's Bears, played in six games with the Gulls, recording six points (2g, 4a) and two penalty minutes. The 6-foot-1-inch, 195-pound native of Shrewsbury, Mass. has played 31 games for the Bears this season, also notching six points (3g, 3a) and 10 penalty minutes.

Voltera, 24, has also played the better part of this season with Hershey, registering five points (1g, 4a) and 127 penalty minutes in 41 games. The 6-foot, 228-pound native of Comox, British Columbia suited up for three games for San Diego, amassing 12 penalty minutes.

Wismer, 24, signs with the Blue and Orange after being waived by the Long Beach Ice Dogs on Tuesday. In 59 games for Long Beach, the 5-foot-10-inch, 180-pound rookie forward netted 13 points (3g, 10a) and 28 penalty minutes. Wismer turned pro at the beginning of the 2002-03 season after spending the last three years at Seneca College.

Grant, 34, was placed on the 14-day injured list for the second time this season. In 31 games for the Gulls, the 6-foot-3-inch, 210-pound veteran defenseman recorded 24 points (5g, 19a) and 62 penalty minutes. Before coming to San Diego, Grant played the last five seasons overseas.

The Gulls also claimed forward Bruce Watson off the waiver wire earlier today. Watson played in one game before being released by the Fresno Falcons. The 6-foot-2-inch, 227-pounder from Pembroke, Ontario began the season with the Atlantic Coast Hockey League's Cape Fear Fire Antz, where he racked up 41 points (20g, 21a) and 268 penalty minutes in 26 games.
