Louisiana IceGators News Release
Augusta, GA The Louisiana IceGators made it two wins in a row over the Augusta Lynx and three in a row overall, as Louisiana allowed only 16 shots on net en-route to a 3-0 victory Tuesday night in Augusta.
The first period was scoreless as the IceGators outshot the Lynx by a count of 16-3. One moment of concern came at the 3:55 mark of the period as starting goaltender, Kyle Kettles, was injured sprawling across the net on a mini break away by Brian Passmore. Kettles was replaced by Nathan Marsters, and his status is being called day to day.
The Gators took a 1-0 lead through two periods when David Bararuk stole the puck from Rod Sarich, the Dallas Stars signee then back pedaled in front of the net and lifted a wrister top-shelf on Jason Saal to give the Gators a one goal lead. For Bararuk it was his 5th goal of the season and came at the 19:16 mark of the period.
The IceGators continued their strong play in the 3rd period as Shawn Skiehar scored his 1st of the season and Randy Dagenais added a power play goal, his 3rd, as the visitors rolled to a 3-0 victory. Marsters wins for the 5th time this season, stopping all 16 Augusta shots in 56:05 of time in the net. Louisiana finished with 31 shots. The Gators were 1-4 on the power play, the Lynx 0-5.
The road trip will continue tomorrow night in Charlotte as the Gators visit the Checkers at 6:05pm CST. The game will be available on 960am "The Gator" and on the internet at www.icegators.com.
