The Niagara IceDogs picked up their second win in as many nights on Saturday, with a 5-3 victory in Belleville over the hometown Bulls.
The first period saw the IceDogs get off to a bit of a slow start with Niagara starter Jaroslav Pavelka only lasting 5:38 after allowing two goals on eight shots. The lead would become 3-0 for Belleville before the IceDogs stormed back with three goals of their own with Freddie Hamilton picking up a pair of goals, one on the powerplay and one shorthanded, sandwiching Mitch Bennett's first goal as an IceDog to make it 3-3 after one. Shots were 15-14 Belleville after one.
The second saw far less offensive action with Andrew Agozzino picking up the lone goal of the period on the powerplay to give the IceDogs a 4-3 lead after two. Michael Gallardi was solid in the period stopping all 14 shots as the IceDogs were outshot 14-10 in the period.
The third period saw the IceDogs put in another solid period, with David Pacan picking up the IceDogs third powerplay goal of the night for the only goal of the period making it a 5-3 final for the IceDogs, as Niagara picked up the final 5 goals for the victory. The final shots on goal for the game were 36-32 in favour of the Bulls.
With the win, Niagara moves to 2-2, while Belleville falls to 2-3. Michael Gallardi was solid in the win, stopping 27 of 28 shots in relief for the victory, while Freddie Hamilton led the offence with 2 goals and 1 assist.
The IceDogs will be back in action next Thursday at home to the visiting London Knights. Tickets are still available at all IceDogs ticketing locations.
