Spirit Fall on Banner Raising Night

Tonight the Saginaw Spirit's faithful fans packed The Dow Event Center to witness the unveiling of their 2010-2011 West Division Championship banner.

Ottawa opened the scoring in the first period with a goal from Tyler Graovac but the Spirit answered back on the power play off the stick of Jamie Oleksiak, for his first goal in a Saginaw Spirit uniform. Following behind him was left wing, #5 Garret Ross. This tied the game with Ottawa making the score 2-2. By the end of the first, Ottawa pulled ahead making the score 4-2 over the Spirit.

Ottawa extended their lead to 6-2 in the second period with goals from right wing, #16 Tyler Toffoli and defensemen #27 Jake Cardwell.

Center, John McFarland came out strong in the third period, making the score 8-3. Ottawa kept their adrenaline up, making the final score 8-3. Jake Paterson had 32 saves while Ottawa's Jake Campbell had 31.

The Spirit are back in action Friday, October 7th at Kitchener. Puck drops at 7:30 PM. Tune in to FM Talk and Sports WSGW 100.5 to catch all the action live.
