Mark Visentin led the Niagara IceDogs by posting his first OHL career shutout to defeat the Sudbury Wolves 2-0 in front of a sold out crowd of 3,145 at the Gatorade Garden City Complex Saturday night. David Pacan and Ryan Strome each notched a goal for the 'Dogs while Mitchell Theoret and Jason Wilson played a solid physical game to lead Niagara to victory.

The IceDogs opened the scoring at the 15:05 mark of the first as David Pacan gave a solid individual effort as he walked right out front of the Wolves net and put one past Valiquette to give them a 1-0 lead.

Shortly after the goal, Mike Schwindt was called for high-sticking to pick up his second minor penalty of the game. However, the 'Dogs proved once again their special teams are a force to be reckoned with as they broke into the Wolves' zone and Andrew Agozzino sent a perfect feed to Ryan Strome right in the slot. Strome then made no mistake and wristed the puck over Valiquette's shoulder to pick up his second point of the game and give Niagara a 2-0 lead.

The action continued in the latter half of the period as Wolves' enforcer Ben Chiarot laid a big hit on Jason Wilson, who then got up and dropped the mitts in retaliation. It was a brief tilt, but the two each landed a punch before Wilson took Chiarot to the ice.

Wilson would receive a 10 minute misconduct and an instigator penalty that would carry over to the second period with 15 second remaining in the Wolves power play.

Mitchell Theoret came up with a few big hits in the second to set the physical tone - some leading to quality scoring chances for the 'Dogs, but the score would remain 2-0 in favour of Niagara after 40 minutes of play.

The third period was scoreless, but the 'Dogs continued to put on pressure while at the same time managing to keep up their solid defensive game.

The Wolves pulled the goaltender during the last minute of play in efforts to tie the game, but Niagara was able to hold the pack off and pick up a 2-0 win with Mark Visentin stopping 24 shots to earn a shutout.

The IceDogs next game will take place on Friday, Nov. 19 at 7:30 p.m. as they pay a visit to the Mississauga St. Michael's Majors for the third time this season.

Niagara will then return home to host the Ottawa 67's on Saturday, Nov. 20 at 7 p.m. Tickets for this and all other IceDogs home games are available for purchase at one of the many IceDogs ticketing locations throughout the Niagara region.
