Oshawa Generals News Release

Oshawa, Ontario - Niagara's special teams were the difference again on Friday night as the IceDogs skated past the Generals 6-1 before a crowd of 3,042 at the General Motors Centre. The IceDogs went 3/7 on the power play and were a perfect 7/7 on the penalty kill. The Generals played a much improved first period, but the Dogs distanced their lead with 3 goals in the second and never looked back. 7 IceDogs had multi-point games, and Niagara now leads the Eastern Conference Quarter Final, 2 games to none. Niagara's first-ranked power play needed just 1 opportunity to take a 1-0 lead in the first period when Dougie Hamilton tallied the first goal. Niagara took control in the second period; they scored 3 goals and built a 4-0 lead. Freddie Hamilton, Andrew Agozzino, and Jesse Graham had the goals. Steven Shipley scored twice and Cole Cassels got the Generals on the board in the third. When the final horn sounded, Niagara had a 6-1 victory and a 2-0 hold on the series. Niagara outshot Oshawa 38-26. Dougie Hamilton, Mark Visentin and Steven Shipley were the game's 3 star selections. Oshawa is back in St. Catharines this Sunday March 25th to take on Niagara in Game 3 of the series. Puck drops at 6:00 PM, and the game can be seen live on Rogers TV Durham. The Generals return home on Wednesday March 28th to battle the IceDogs in Game 4 at the General Motors Centre in Oshawa. Game goes at 7:05 PM. See you there. -30- Megan Gould Manager, Media and Design Oshawa Generals Hockey Club 905-433-0900 ext 2222
