Colts Raise $250,000 For Local Schools
March 23, 2012 - Ontario Hockey League (OHL)
Barrie Colts News Release
Barrie, ON- The Barrie Colts are proud to announce today that they have reached the $250,000 plateau in monies raised for local schools through their adopt-a-school program.
On Thursday night at Barrie's first playoff game, the Colts made a cheque presentation to Mayor Lehman and the City of Barrie for $250,747, the total amount raised since the adopt-a-school program started in 2010.
The program allows local schools to pick a Colts home game and sell tickets to students and teachers, and the Colts donate a portion of the ticket sales back to the school.
Barrie Colts staff and players make weekly appearances at local schools to help promote the program and increase ticket sales.
Schools who would like to be part of the program for the 2012-13 season can contact Andrew Wells in June to book a date.
Barrie is back in action on Friday night for game two of their Eastern Conference quarterfinal series with the Mississauga St. Michael's Majors.
