The Niagara IceDogs beat the CHL's top-ranked team for the fourth time this season, topping the Oshawa Generals 5-3 at the Meridian Centre Friday night.

The Generals opened the scoring as Sam Harding was able to put a rebound past IceDogs goaltender Brent Moran at 5:43 of the first period. Brian Brosnan tied it for the IceDogs exactly one minute later when he wired a point shot past Kenny Appleby. Aidan Wallace scored a shorthanded goal before Christopher Paquette's second goal of the season tied it up at 2-2.

IceDogs forward Verhaeghe gave the IceDogs the lead at 6:36 of the second, the only goal of the period, extending his point streak to eight games. Brendan Perlini and Josh Ho-Sang picked up assists on the three-way passing play as the trio picked up where they left off against the Peterborough Petes the night before.

The Generals tied it up 2:10 in the third when Bradley Latour beat Moran with a shot on a two-on-one. Aaron Haydon scored his sixth goal of the season, giving the IceDogs a 4-3 lead and causing the Meridian Centre crowd to go absolutely nuts.

Perlini added an empty netter to extend his goal scoring streak to five games and Moran made 33 saves for the win.

The IceDogs take on the Saginaw Spirit tomorrow night in their annual teddy bear toss game.
