Niagara IceDogs News Release
The 'Dogs, and our fans, invaded Oshawa Tuesday night for Game 3 of the Eastern Conference Quarter-Finals. Following two great wins at home on the weekend to open the series, the IceDogs came into this game looking to continue their offensive dominance to make the physical play that's been present in this series already. After a penalty-filled second game, the 'Dogs were looking to cut back on their minutes in the sin bin and continue to press against the big Generals.
It was evident to start this game that both teams had settled into their systems. While the physical play was toned down compared to the first two games, both teams battled hard in the opening twenty minutes. Stevie Dhillon made a highlight reel toe save in the middle of the first frame to keep the game scoreless. With a minute remaining in the period, Akil Thomas picked up a loose puck on the side of the net and beat Keyser to take the all-important 1-0 lead! Akil's 3rd goal of the post-season was assisted by Liam Ham, and Will Lochead. The 1-0 lead carried into the 2nd period.
The Generals scored three unanswered goals in the second period to gain the 3-1 lead. The bad blood between these two teams continued after the Generals scored their 3rd goal. Midway through the 3rd period, Danial Singer picked up a pass from Matthew Philip to cut the Oshawa lead to 1! Singer's first of the playoffs was also assisted by Oliver Castleman. The Generals scored 3 unanswered goals to end the 3rd period. The 'Dogs fell 6-2 in this one.
We're back in action Thursday, for Game 4, where the 'Dogs will be looking to get revenge for the tough loss in Game 3.
