
IceDogs Come Up Just Short Versus Wolves

The Niagara IceDogs fell 2-1 to the Sudbury Wolves in a hard fought battle Friday night in Sudbury.
Sudbury would open the scoring late in the first period, as Marcus Foligno opened the scoring with a goal at the 18:56 mark to send the home team into the intermission with a 1-0 lead after one.
Kristoff Kontos would stretch the lead to two at 2-0 with a goal at 14:20 of the second, giving Sudbury a 2-0 lead after two periods.
Alex Friesen would tally his 20th goal of the season 5:10 into the third period to bring the IceDogs within one at 2-1. The IceDogs would continue to pressure throughout the period, outshooting the Wolves 12-4, but Andrew Loverock continued to stand on his head, finishing the night with 35 saves in a first star performance.
With the loss, the IceDogs fall into a tie for seventh in the Eastern Conference with Sudbury. The IceDogs remain two points ahead of the ninth place Oshawa Generals, who fell 9-4 to the Belleville Bulls on Friday night.
The IceDogs return to action tomorrow night as they travel to Sault Ste. Marie to take on the hometown Greyhounds. Game is 7:30pm and IceDogs fans can follow all the action by watching live on TVCogeco or listen to all the action on 105.1 The River.
