Erie Otters News Release

Adam Courchaine picked up his second shutout of the week with 36 saves and Anthony Luciani followed up last night's hat trick with a three-point night as the Erie Otters dominated the Belleville Bulls on the road Saturday night, 6-0.

The first period belonged to the Otters, who outshot the Bulls 22-12 in the first 20 minutes. Andrew Yogan put Erie on the board 3:56 into the contest as he helped direct a Brett Appio backhander past the goal line for his 24th goal of the season.

Mike Cazzola added to the lead with his 29th goal of the season at 11:59. Greg McKegg entered the Belleville zone on the left wing and beat Julian Luciani to send a pass towards the front of the net to Cazzola, who knocked it home for the goal.

Luciani would score his first of the night with a pretty wraparound goal at 14:57 to complete the scoring in the first period. Luciani tucked the puck around the stick side post of Anthony Peters for his 28th goal of the season.

Luciani then tallied his second goal of the game late in the second period, as he buried a one-timer pass from Jeremy Gottzmann in the left circle at 15:48 to put the Otters in front, 4-0, after 40 minutes of play.

The Otters continued to pile it on in the third period, with Shawn Szydlowski scoring a power play goal and Appio adding a late goal for good measure to put the exclamation point on the 6-0 win.

Luciani had two goals and an assist to lead the Otters and take first star honors. Szydlowski, Yogan and Appio each had two-point nights, while Gottzmann chipped in with two assists.

The Otters complete their road trip Sunday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. in Kingston to take on the Frontenacs. Fans can listen to the game in the Erie-area on Fox Sports Radio AM 1330 The FAN or online at ottershockey.com.
