
Ice Flyers Shut out Rivermen

PEORIA - The Peoria Rivermen gave up two power play goals for the second straight night and were shut out for the second time this season by the Pensacola Ice Flyers, 3-0 on Saturday night at Carver Arena.
The Ice Flyers struck first 10:21 into the game on a power play on the first of two goals on the night by Adam Pawlick for the only first period goal. Jeremy Gates tallied 9:29 into the middle period on another man-advantage chance, and Pawlick scored an even-strength goal at 16:02 of the second frame for the final scoring. Corey Banfield assisted on all three goals and Cody Ferreiro helped on two of the lamp-lighters.
Pensacola was 2-of-5 on power plays while the Rivermen were unsuccessful on six chances. Max Strang recorded a 32-save shutout while Kyle Rank took the loss with 20 saves.
The Rivermen begin a three-game road trip on Thursday with a stop in Knoxville and Friday and Saturday contests in Fayetteville, N.C.
