Pensacola Ice Flyers News Release
PENSACOLA, FL - The Pensacola Ice Flyers peppered the Louisiana IceGators with shots and had tons of chances but didn't get the bounces they needed as they fell 4-0.
The first period proved to be calm as neither team scored but the second period was not as quiet. Louisiana's Jason Cohen scored with 8:06 left in the period to give the IceGators the 1-0 lead. Almost four minutes again, the IceGators struck again when Reid MacLeod scored to push the lead to 2-0. The Gators went up 3-0 when Chris Wilson netted one against his old team. With 1:54 left in the second, Keegan Flaherty attempted to give the Ice Flyers a spark and got into a fight with the Gators' MacLeod.
The IceGators would notch one last goal when Jeremy Boyer scored with 11:07 remaining in the third to put the IceGators up 4-0. Matt Zenzola and Kiefer Smiley combined for the shutout with a combined 42 saves.
These same two teams faceoff tomorrow at the Cajundome in Lafayette, Louisiana at 3:05 Central.
