Rivermen Release a Trio of Wingers

November 2, 2013 - SPHL (SPHL)
Peoria Rivermen News Release

Peoria Rivermen head coach Jean-Guy Trudel announced Saturday that wingers Branden Parkhouse, Matt Graham and Mike Lysyj have each been released. Both Graham and Lysyj were playing on a three-game tryout contract, which expired following Friday's game.

The transaction drops Peoria's roster to 15 skaters and two goaltenders, one player shy of the league limit. However, Peoria is expected to add another forward by Saturday's game.

Parkhouse, 25, appeared in two games with the Rivermen and recorded six penalty minutes with a minus-one rating. The Rancho Cucamonga, California native also skated in both exhibition games, where he netted two goals.

Last season, Parkhouse made his professional debut with the Louisiana Ice Gators (SPHL) and also spent three games with the Ontario Reign (ECHL), where he notched one assist. The 5'11, 185-pound winger played four years at Becker College in Worcester, Massachusetts from 2009-2013.

Graham, 25, scored one goal and recorded five shots over three appearances for the Rivermen during his tryout. He also made his professional debut against the Bloomington Thunder on Oct. 25.

Prior to turning pro, Graham spent the last four years at Becker College with Parkhouse, where he tallied 43 goals and 59 assists over 91 games. The Darien, Illinois native was named Co-MVP his senior season.

Lysyj, 24, appeared in just one game for the Rivermen during his tryout. The Hillsborough, New Jersey native made his professional debut last season with ECHL Orlando following a four year career at SUNY-Cortland. Over 96 collegiate games, Lysyj recorded 39 goals and 38 assists for 77 points. He also notched an assist in six games with Orlando.

The Rivermen return to action Saturday night for a re-match against the Mississippi RiverKings at Carver Arena. Peoria will wear special military-style, camouflage jerseys in celebration of "Illinois Air National Guard - Salute to Veterans Night." Those jerseys will be auctioned off live after the game. The puck drops at 7:15 p.m. and you can follow all of the action locally on CD Country 107.9 FM or online at www.cd1079.net .
