FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. - Giving up four power play goals in the second period to break a tie, the Bloomington Thunder fell 6-3 to the Fayetteville FireAntz on Saturday night at Crown Coliseum.

The Thunder quickly opened the scoring on the game's second shift just 1:29 into the game when Kevin Walrod scored his third goal of the season and the weekend on a feed as he crashed the deep slop. Chris Greene tied the game with 11:48 left in the opening frame on a rebound goal followed by a deflected puck drilled home from the slot by Brett Liscomb less than 90 seconds later to give the hosts a 2-1 lead. Paul D'Agostino lifted a floater from the left point with 1:16 left to send the Thunder tied at 2-2 into the first intermission.

The FireAntz grabbed a lead in the middle chapter with four power play goals. The Antz used a power play to take a 3-2 lead with 10:30 left in the second period on a drive from the high slot by Kyle McNeil, then the hosts used their fourth power play of the night with 9:40 left in the second to take a 4-2 lead on a rebound goal by Brandon Richardson. Yet another man advantage, this time 4-on-3, resulted in another power play goal with 6:22 left with a drive from the slot by Zach Carriveau. The fourth power play tally lit the light with just 2.3 seconds left on a pinballing puck from Brandon Greenside for a 6-2 Fayetteville lead at the second intermission.

The Thunder scored on their first power play of the night with 15:10 left in the third period on a rebound goal from Matt Puntereri to cut the guests' deficit to 6-3.

The FireAntz were 4-of-9 on the power play while the Thunder were 1-of-2. Fayetteville outshot the Thunder 37-31 as Max Strang took the loss in net while Kyle Rank picked up the win, the first of the season for the FireAntz as both teams move to 1-3-0.
