Long Beach Ice Dogs News Release
LONG BEACH, Calif. â The Long Beach Ice Dogs announced today that an agreement has been reached with KVMD to broadcast a minimum of 20 Ice Dogs home games live next season. The broadcast schedule will be made available after the release of the 2004-2005 ECHL schedule this summer.
KVMD broadcast 12 Ice Dogs games this past season, reaching a total of 1.25 million households per telecast. Currently KVMD can be seen on DirecTV, Dish Network, Adelphia, Charter, and certain Comcast regions. By July 1st, KVMD is expected to be in 1.85 million cable households and an estimated 800,000 DirecTV and Dish Network homes.
"We at KVMD-Channel 23 are pleased to have entered into an understanding with the Long Beach Ice Dogs to increase the number of Ice Dogs games we will broadcast to 20 during the 2004-2005 season", said KVMD president, Ronald Ulloa. "The competitive hockey played by the Ice Dogs has resulted in many requests to the station to see more of the Ice Dogs. In order to satisfy this need, KVMD has revised its program calendar in order to make 20 slots available to the Ice Dogs in the next season."
While the minimum number has been set at 20 games, KVMD anticipates being able to carry more, schedule permitting.
"I was very impressed with the quality of the telecasts this past year and am delighted that 20-25 games will be telecast next year", said Ice Dogs co-owner Barry Kemp. "Considering the number of homes that KVMD reaches and the geographic scope of their coverage, it's great for our fans and sponsors."
The Ice Dogs will be celebrating their 10 year anniversary next season. It will be their second year in the ECHL.
