Long Beach Ice Dogs News Release

LONG BEACH, Calif. – The Ice Dogs skated into Wednesday's game looking to gain some ground against another Pacific Division opponent, but fell short. Though Long Beach never led in the game, they kept it close while moving the puck well and creating plenty of opportunities.

The Ice Dogs (15-28-3) and Aces (26-16-4) played nearly half of the first period without either team registering a shot on goal, but Alaska managed to get on the board first when Wes Dorey's shot from beside the net hit Aces' Jordan Cameron for a 1-0 lead. Long Beach tied it up less than two minutes later when Kevin McDonald scored his 10th of the year from former Aces forward Nolan Graham. Less than a minute after that Dave Csumrik scored unassisted to give Alaska a 2-1 lead on their fourth shot of the game.

The second period opened with a goal by Kimbi Daniels of Alaska just 58 seconds into the middle frame. But Mike Ouellet would close the gap in half with his 8th of the year, with assists from Trevor Read and newly acquired forward Martin Paquet. However, that would be all the scoring for the game as the goalies would keep the remaining shots out of the nets. After a shaky first period, T.J. Aceti stopped 14 of the remaining 15 shots he faced.

Long Beach will head out on the road on Friday to take on the Bakersfield Condors and will play six consecutive road games over the next two weeks. They will not return home until February 25th when they take on the Las Vegas Wranglers.
