Meanwhile, Pederson scored a point in all 16 games the Gulls played in January, including five game-winning goals.

Koenig went 10-1-1 with a 1.81 goals-against average and .936 save percentage in 12 games in January. He won his last seven starts of the month improving his record to 22-6-3, lowing his GAA from 2.48 to 2.33 and raising his save percentage from .909 to .915.

Named ECHL Saver of the Week for Jan 26 – Feb. 1 and Sun National Bank ECHL Saver of the Month for January, Koenig is tied for the league lead with four shootout wins and is tied for second in the league with 23 wins overall. Koenig is eighth in the ECHL with a 2.34 GAA and is tied for third with three shutouts.

The two-time West Coast Hockey League Goaltender of the Year has won 20-or-more games in each of his four seasons with the Gulls, including a career-high 42 in 2001-02. Koenig has also backstopped San Diego to the WCHL Taylor Cup Championship twice (2001 and 2003).

Koenig is 121-45-14 with 17 shutouts, a 2.39 GAA and .916 save percentage in 186 career regular season games with the Gulls. He's the franchise's all-time leader in GAA, shutouts and save percentage. Koenig is second all-time in appearances, wins, minutes played and saves.

Pederson led the ECHL in January with 16 goals, including five game-winners, and tied for the league lead with 26 points in 16 games. The veteran left-winger had four two-goal games, eight multipoint games and was a +7 during the month. Netting a point in all 16 games in January, Pederson extended his ECHL season-high scoring streak to 18 games (the streak was snapped Feb. 7th in Idaho after 20 games).

The former No. 1 pick of the NHL's Montreal Canadiens ended January leading the ECHL in goals (30), power-play goals (13) and shooting percentage (26.1). Pederson set a franchise record with a nine-game goal-scoring streak (12g) from Dec. 28 to Jan. 17, tying the ECHL season high set by Florida's Keith Anderson.

This is Pederson's second season with the Gulls. He came to San Diego after spending the previous seven years playing in Europe. In 2002-03 Pederson was named as the West Coast Hockey's League Forward of the Year and Playoff MVP. He was also selected to the All-WCHL team.
