Bakersfield Condors News Release
Bakersfield, Calif â The Bakersfield Condors are preparing to host two games this weekend at Centennial Garden, with Long Beach coming into town on Friday and a rematch with the Alaska Aces on Saturday.
The Condors welcome the Ice Dogs into town on Friday, the 13th for a 7:00pm matchup. The first 3,000 fans through the turnstiles will receive a Condors Matchbox Car, with the team logo and a local racing favorite #29 emblazoned on the car. KGET-TV 17, KUZZ 107.9 and Pepsi sponsor the matchbox cars. Friday night is also 24 Hour Fitness Member Discount Night, in which all members can gain 2-for-1 admission by showing their 24 Hour Fitness membership card at the box office.
Friday's game will also be carried on Spanish simulcast on KWAC La Nortena 1490 AM, with Jose Morales handling the play-by-play and Jorge Escalante serving as the color commentator. The duo worked last season's landmark Spanish broadcast on the same station and the earlier broadcast this season on December 14th. This is the second of two Spanish broadcasts this season.
The next night, the Condors host Alaska for the second time in the last week. The mascot Reggy appears on Saturday in his Bakersfield debut to entertain kids of all ages. Reggy is the newest creation of mascot legend Dave Raymond, who brought international fame to the Phillie Phanatic. Reggy appears courtesy of Bright House Networks, Spanish Radio Group and 24 Hour Fitness.
Bakersfield trails the Aces in the standings by 14 points, with three more head-to-head meetings including Saturday. Alaska currently holds the fourth and final playoff spot in the Pacific Division. Saturday's match is the last game on home ice for the Condors until the final weekend of the month, as they prepare to embark on a seven-game road swing that will take them across the continent to the East Coast next week.
It's also Bright House Networks Family Night, offering all subscribers the chance to buy terrace tickets for just $5 apiece by presenting the coupon that was included in their monthly bill. All members of the Condors Kids Club get a complimentary terrace ticket to Saturday's game as well by showing their Kids Club Membership card at the box office. The Bakersfield Californian, Bright House Networks, Kern Schools Federal Credit Union and Cold Stone Creameries sponsor the Condors Kids Club. It's also a T.H.I.N.K. Night, in which students who participated in the program received a voucher for complimentary admission to the game.
Both games this weekend will be televised live on Bright House Networks Ch. 21, with replays the following morning at 10:00am. All games, home and away, can be heard on KGEO AM 1230, and online at www.bakersfieldcondors.com, with "Condors Countdown" starting 15 minutes prior to face off. The "Voice of the Condors" Kevin Bartl handles the play-by-play and on home games.
The Condors Coach's Show takes place on Thursdays from 6:00-7:00pm live on KGEO AM 1230, and on location from the Holiday Inn Select next to Centennial Garden. The show features a weekly visit from Head Coach Paul Kelly, drink and food specials from the Holiday Inn Select's Q Street Bistro, and a chance to win Condors prizes.
