Royals Hang On...Down Titans, 4-2

Royals' forward David Masse scored the game-winner, his eighth of the season, as Reading defeated division rival Trenton, 4-2. It was the fifth win for the Royals over the Titans in six tries. The Royals (25-15-7) stifled the Titans (22-18-5) in the third period, out-shooting them 17-11 in the game's final stanza. Reading led 3-2 heading into the final period, and iced it with forward Dave Stewart's empty net goal at the 19:56 mark, his 2nd of the year. Stewart registered his first multiple point game of the season, tallying an assist earlier in the contest. With the win, the Royals moved to 16-1-2 at the Sovereign Center. The Royals have not lost in regulation in the Jungle since October 31. The Royals have allowed just 26 goals in 19 home games this season. Reading goaltender Peter Hamerlik was solid between the pipes, making 32 saves for his fourth win of the year. The Royals return to the ice Friday night, February 13th, as they travel to Dayton to battle the Bombers. Faceoff time is set for 7:00 pm. The team returns home for a pair of contests on Saturday the 14th and Sunday the 15th. Saturday, Johnstown visits the Sovereign Center with the puck dropping at 7:05 pm.
