Duluth Huskies News Release

Waterloo, Iowa - The Huskies started the road trip with an early jump on the top team in the Great Plains East division. The bottom third of the lineup shined yet again for Duluth as they combined to reach base nine out of twelve times. The Huskies outhit the Bucks in total today but still fell short in the final total as they drop their second straight by a score of 7-3.

The Huskies walked seven Bucks today, including one walk when the bases were loaded to add some insurance to the late Waterloo lead. Tyler Meyer had a short start (2.0 IP, 2 H, 4 R, 3 ER, 2 BB) and was relieved by Michael Altman who was a stud from the bullpen this afternoon. Across four innings, Altman allowed one run in his first inning of work but was incredible in the rest of his appearance. He struck out four and only walked one across seventy pitches thrown. Max Pappas was unable to get an out and allowed two runs in the bottom of the 7th inning before Eli Sundquist was welcomed to the game. After walking one run in, Sundquist racked up five straight strikeouts before getting the final out of the ballgame for the Bucks at the dish. For the Huskies, Bryan Broecker shined at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two RBIs. He reached in all four of his plate appearances.

Although Waterloo was advised about a heat warning of almost over 100 degrees, the Huskies bats weren't hot enough to compete with the mighty Waterloo Bucks. The Bucks improve their overall record to 13-4 and the Huskies now drop to 5-12. The starter for tomorrow's game for Duluth is TBD and the Huskies' starter will face off against the Bucks' Duncan Davitt at 6:35 PM back at Riverfront Stadium in Waterloo.
