Hurricanes Recall Dwyer, Rodney From Albany

RALEIGH, NC-Jim Rutherford, President and General Manager of the National Hockey League's Carolina Hurricanes, today announced that the team has recalled forward Patrick Dwyer and defenseman Bryan Rodney from the Albany River Rats of the American Hockey League. The players will be available on Wednesday for the Hurricanes' game at the RBC Center against the Dallas Stars.

Dwyer, 26, has averaged 11:58 of ice time per game in eight Hurricanes games this season during three prior recalls from the AHL. The Spokane, WA, native has played in 23 AHL games with the River Rats this season, and ranks tied for first among Albany skaters with 11 goals, and tied for third on the team with 19 points. Dwyer (5'11", 175 lbs.) originally signed with Carolina as a free agent in July 2006, and inked a new two-year contract with the club on July 1, 2009.

Rodney, 25, has played in six NHL games with Carolina this season, and has earned two assists while averaging 18:27 of ice time per game. The London, Ont., native has scored two goals and earned seven assists (9 points) in 20 AHL games this season with the River Rats. Rodney (6'0", 195 lbs.) is in his fifth professional season and his second with the Hurricanes organization after signing with the club as a free agent on May 12, 2008. Rodney made his NHL debut with Carolina in 2008-09, and earned two assists in eight games with the Hurricanes last season.
