Lethbridge Hurricanes News Release

LETHBRIDGE, AB - The Lethbridge Hurricanes Hockey Club is excited to introduce the Captain's Corner courtesy of former captains, Tyler Wong and Dino Kambeitz.

Wong and Kambeitz reached out to the Hurricanes separately wishing to each donate a pair of season tickets to our community.

Drafted in the fifth round (101st overall) of the 2011 WHL Prospects Draft, Wong spent his entire WHL career in Lethbridge and was a fan favourite. "Throughout my five years in Lethbridge I saw first hand the joy and sense of pride people received from cheering on the Hurricanes. I see this as a way to possibly bless someone with that same opportunity to go and enjoy themselves at a game," said the former captain. "My time in Lethbridge was something I will cherish forever and I am very grateful for the opportunity I have to give back to that community".

Following his WHL career with the Hurricanes, Wong played for the Chicago Wolves in the American Hockey League for two seasons and recorded the Vegas Golden Knights' first ever goal and hat trick in pre-season action against the Vancouver Canucks. He is now in his third season with the Kunlun Red Star in the KHL where he has amassed 52 points (24G, 28A) in 116 games.

Freshly graduated from the WHL, Kambeitz hails from Parker, Colorado, USA but has strong family ties to Southern Alberta as his father, Jim, is from Bow Island, Alberta and is also a former WHL-er.

Acquired from Victoria prior to the start of the 2019-2020 season, Kambeitz quickly made an impact on and off the ice. Though his time in Lethbridge was just one fairly normal season and one definitely not normal COVID shortened season, Kambeitz felt the support from the community and felt right at home in Lethbridge. "I wanted to donate season tickets to the community because they did so much for me while I was there playing. I met so many great people that if I'm able to help them get to games and support our team I'm happy to do so," said Kambeitz who signed a one-year, AHL/ECHL deal with the Bakersfield Condors this past summer.

Fans are encouraged to nominate individuals and families, up to four people, to sit in the Hurricanes Captain's Corner at an upcoming home game at the ENMAX Centre. The hope is to find community members who deserve and need a night out, who may not be able to attend a Hurricanes game due to personal, financial, or other constraints. Nominate someone you know today, thank them for a good deed, give them a break they deserve, treat them to their first hockey game. We want to hear our community stories!

Individual game tickets be purchased by visiting the ENMAX Centre Ticket Centre, the Yates Memorial Theatre Ticket Centre, by calling 403-329-SEAT (7328) or online at www.enmaxcentre.ca.
