Calgary Hitmen News Release
Lethbridge, AB - A four-game point streak for the Calgary Hitmen came to an end Saturday night with a 6-0 loss to the Hurricanes on the road in Lethbridge at the ENMAX Centre.
Former Hitmen star forward Sean Tschigerl counted a hat-trick for the 'Canes in his first meeting against his former club while Harrison Meneghin made 25 saves for his third shutout of the season. On January 8, 2024, the Hitmen acquired second and third-round picks in the 2025 WHL Prospects Draft from the Hurricanes in exchange for Tschigerl who climbed to 14th on Calgary's all-time points list before his departure.
Miguel Marques, Brayden Edwards and Tristen Doyle completed the scoring for the Hurricanes who built period leads of 1-0 and 2-0. Marques also added three assists to finish with a team-leading four points.
Calgary outshot the 'Canes 25-23 while on the special teams front Lethbridge went 3-4 on the power play and killed all four Hitmen chances.
The loss was only the second in regulation in the last 12 games for the Hitmen who have posted a 7-2-3 record during that span.
Calgary will now get set to wrap up the weekend tomorrow, Sunday, Feb. 4 at home against the Edmonton Oil Kings. Game time is 4:00 p.m. at Scotiabank Saddledome in another Sunday Funday presented by Brookfield Residential. In addition to $3 sips and snacks specials all game long, look for family fun entertainment on the west concourse. There are also $6 Hitmen Happy Hour food and drink deals throughout the day and a post-game family skate. It's also 'Real Canadian Superstore #CHLJerseyContest Game Day' where the Hitmen will wear a specially designed jersey crafted by one lucky fan. The jerseys will be auctioned off at elevateauctions.com/RCSS with proceeds to benefit the PC Children's Charity.
