Medicine Hat Tigers News Release
Prince Albert, SK - The Medicine Hat Tigers drop their second game of the weekend in a 3-2 defeat at the hands of the Prince Albert Raiders Saturday.
Both teams would have opportunities on the power play early but both goaltenders in Ethan McCallum (Brandon, MB) for the Tigers and Max Hildebrand for the Raiders would come up big to keep the scoreless deadlock. The scoring wouldn't come till late in the first period as Brayden Dube on a called no-goal on the ice high stick call gets converted on video review and the Raiders would lead the Tigers 1-0 at 17:04. Dube wouldn't be done either just 1:27 later on a delayed Tiger penalty, Dube would just sneak the puck over the goal-line for his second straight and the Raiders would take a 2-0 lead heading to the 1st intermission.
In the second period the Tigers couldn't cash in on an early power play but to no avail as Prince Albert on a power play of their own would see Niall Crocker would re-direct a point shot past McCallum to push the Raider lead to 3-0 after 2.
The Tigers would make their case for a comeback in the third against the Raiders as on their 6th power play of the night Shane Smith (Cessford, AB) would finally solve Max Hildebrand for his 24th of the season to cut the lead to 3-1. Andrew Basha (Calgary, AB) & Tomas Mrsic (Surrey, BC) would get power play points on the mark. The Tigers would then draw even closer as Jack Kachkowski (St. Albert, AB) would fire home his first WHL goal to cut the lead to 3-2 at the 9:04 mark from Mrsic & Bogdans Hodass (Jelgava, LAT).
Despite the Tigers outshooting the Raiders 8-2 in the period they could not get the equalizer. Falling 3-2 and putting the season series dead even at 1-1.
The Tigers will return home and look to bounce back with a meeting against the Regina Pats Tuesday night at Co-op Place.
