Lethbridge, AB - The WHL Bantam Draft will take place on Thursday, May 2nd, and General Managers and Scouts had one final look at this year's prospects at the Alberta Cup which wrapped up on the weekend.

Prospects like Forwards Tyler Benson, Sam Steel and Defenseman Kale Clague and others have been talked about all season and their play at the Alberta Cup only solidified their draft status. Lethbridge Hurricanes General Manager, Brad Robson says it really shows the strength of our Alberta talent. "Not only will there be some top end players in the forward position, but there will probably be some very good defensemen that will go early as well, with some size in that second, third and fourth rounds. There's depth at the goaltending position with players like Stuart Skinner showing his talent and he's moved himself ahead of the rest of the pack in the entire draft." Robson added "I wouldn't doubt if I saw between 60-70% of the prospects who were drafted come out of Alberta."

Robson also noted that while another strong percentage of drafted players will come from B.C., he's also impressed with the talent coming from the States. "The U.S. programs are developing a lot of really good hockey players and they're being recognized by teams right across the league."

The Hurricanes hold the sixth overall pick in the first round of the Draft and eighth in the subsequent rounds. Fans can watch the first round live online via webcast at www.whl.ca. The Draft begins at 8:30am MST on May 2nd, 2013.
