
Huntsville downs Birmingham, 7-3

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Huntsville Stars defeated the Birmingham Barons by the score of 7-3 on Saturday evening, June 3rd, in Southern League action at Hoover Metropolitan Stadium.
Drew Anderson finished with four RBI for the Stars (22-33) while Steve Moss and Jeff Eure each scored a pair of runs. Huntsville starter Tim Dillard (6.2 IP, 6 H, 3 R, 1 ER, 1 BB, 7 K) allowed just one earned run and fanned seven in 6.2 IP to improve his record to 3-4.
Chris Getz (2-for-4) recorded the only multi-hit game for Birmingham (24-33) as starter Lance Broadway (4.2 IP, 5 H, 6 R, 3 ER, 7 BB, 0 K) fell to 4-3. Micah Schnurstein went 1-for-4 to extend his current hitting streak to seven games.
Birmingham will continue its five-game series with the Stars on Sunday afternoon, June 4th, with first pitch scheduled for 2:05 p.m. RHP Travis Phelps (0-2, 4.05 ERA) is listed as the probable starter for Huntsville, while LHP Tyler Lumsden (6-1, 3.27 ERA) is scheduled to take the mound for the Barons.
