Jackson, TN (June 3rd)- The West Tenn Diamond Jaxx blanked the Tennessee Smokies 4-0 before a crowd of 3203 fans at Pringles Park on Saturday night. It was the second straight shutout of the series as the Smokies won the first game 3-0 on Friday night.

Bobby Brownlie threw five shutout innings to pick up the win. Brownlie (2-3) was supposed to be the starting pitcher on Sunday afternoon but got the start Saturday night when the original starting pitcher Carlos Marmol was called up to the parent club thirty minutes before tonight's Southern League game. Brownlie gave up just three hits and walked three while striking out two in his five innings of work. Thomas Atlee pitched three scoreless innings in relief, yielding just one hit. Clay Rapada struckout the side after hitting the leadoff batter in the ninth inning.

The Diamond Jaxx scored three runs in the first inning off losing pitcher Garrett Mock (1-6). Gary Cates walked to begin the inning. Eric Patterson singled Cates to third and they both scored on a two run triple down the right-field line by Nic Jackson. Jackson scored on a groundout by Brian Dopirak to make it a 3-0 game. The Diamond Jaxx tacked on their final run of the night in the seventh inning on a run scoring double by Patterson.

Game three of the five game series takes place on Sunday afternoon at 1:05 CDT. Left-hander Paul Schappert (3-0 3.69) will make a spot start for the Diamond Jaxx. Tennessee will counter with righty Steven Jackson (2-3 2.28).
