Moose Jaw Warriors News Release

Daemon Hunt didn't get an opportunity to suit up in any games at the 2022 IIHF World Junior Championship thanks to an injury during the team's camp.

The Moose Jaw Warriors captain did, however, get to throw on the maple leaf and celebrate with his teammates on Saturday after Team Canada captured gold with a 3-2 overtime win against Finland.

This was the 19th gold medal for Canada at the World Juniors and the country's third in the past five years.

After suffering an injury prior to the winter version of the tournament last December, Hunt had another shot to play for Canada this summer, but was struck with an injury once again.

The Minnesota Wild prospect remained with Team Canada during the tournament and had the opportunity to throw on a uniform for the celebration after the gold medal win.

Warriors import forward Martin Rysavy and Czechia came up just short of a medal, finishing fourth after a 3-1 loss to Sweden in Saturday's bronze medal game.

Rysavy finished with two goals in seven games at the World Juniors.

The Columbus Blue Jackets draft pick is eligible to take part in the 2023 World Juniors this December.

The Warriors open training camp coming up on August 31 at the Moose Jaw Events Centre.
