Hudson Valley Wins Another Tight One, 2-0

Aberdeen, MD - The Aberdeen IronBirds fell for the seventh time at home this season, losing 2-0 to the Hudson Valley Renegades this evening.

After two innings of action-less baseball, the Renegades made things interesting in the third. SS Alex Sole hit a hard ground ball toward second, but 2B Frederico Castagnini made a great diving stop and then threw the ball from his knees to first to beat a diving Sole for the first out. After a CF Bralin Jackson groundout, 2B Jace Conrad stepped up and hit a double into the right field corner. Up next was 1B Casey Gillaspie who hit a single down the middle that was stopped by a sliding Castagnini, but Conrad was able to make it to third. Just as things seemed to get a little hairy for the RHP Bennett Parry and the IronBirds, LF Hunter Lockwood lined out to left to end the inning.

After another two-inning lull, things picked back up at the top of the fifth. RHP Josh Walker came in to relieve RHP Tanner Chleborad who had relieved Parry. After forcing Sole into a lead-off ground out, Walker gave up a single to Jackson. Up next was Conrad, who hit a hard grounder down the first base line that past a diving Segui and it rolled into the right corner, allowing Conrad to get a double and Jackson to move to third. With one out, Walker intentionally walked Gillaspie, loading up the bases forLockwood who hit a hard liner into left field, bringing home Jackson and Conrad. It gave the Renegades a two-run lead. Walker was then able to get a strikeout and a pop up to get out of the inning.

The IronBirds offense collected three hits in the game.

This loss drops the IronBirds to 1-14 overall, and 0-7 at home, officially marking the longest home losing streak in IronBird history.

Bradley Wallace (1-0, 0.00) was awarded the win and Josh Walker (0-1, 18.00) was given the loss, while Bradley Wallace earned the save.
