Renegades Hold Strong in Aberdeen

Aberdeen, MD (6/27/14)- In their first trip to Cal Ripken Stadium in 2014, the Hudson Valley Renegades defeated the Aberdeen IronBirds for the fifth time this season. With the win, they improves to 10-5 overall, and are now just half a game behind the Brooklyn Cyclones in first place of the McNamara Division.

In yet another pitcher's duel, the Renegades were able to outlast the IronBirds with a 1-0 victory on Friday night. DJ Slaton started the game on the hill for Hudson Valley, going four innings with four strikeouts and no runs surrendered.

He went up against Aberdeen's Dylan Bundy, as the O's top pitching prospect continues to rehab with their New York-Penn League affiliate.

Hudson Valley's Edgar Gomez went the next five innings in relief, giving up no runs or hits while garnering his first win of the year.

Offensively, the Renegades had nine base knocks, with Eli Torres and Alec Sole each picking up two hits on the evening. Sole went on to finish 2-3 at the plate, while stealing three bases. Daniel Miles scored the team's first and only run of the game, giving them their second win in two nights.

Notes: After sweeping their opening four game series with the Aberdeen IronBirds, the Renegades are now 5-0 against their McNamara Division opponent. Dylan Bundy has pitched in two games against the Renegades, with his team being on the losing end in both starts. Both at ten wins, the Renegades and the Cyclones are the only two teams in their division to reach that mark up to this point.

The Renegades will take on the IronBirds in game two of three on Saturday, with first pitch at 7:05 PM. They'll finish the series on Sunday at 5:35 PM.
