June 6, 2015 - Northwoods League (Northwoods)
Green Bay Rockers News Release
Green Bay, Wis.- Ryan Howell joined the company of Stephen Strasburg as a Mountain West Conference player to win the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association District VIII Player of the Year Honors.
Howell joined a group of 10 players named to such an honor. At the University of Nevada-Reno, Howell batted .312 with 67 hits, 54 runs, 65 RBI, and 17 home runs for the Wolf Pack in 2015. Barely shy of an NCAA Tournament selection, Howell also helped Nevada finish 41-15 overall.
As a Bullfrog last summer, Howell finished with 11 home runs and 44 RBI. Both categories led the team and his 11 round-trippers were fourth in the Northwoods League.
From July 19-30 of 2014, Howell accumulated an 11-game hit streak in which he slugged four home runs with 14 RBI. In just his second game in a Bullfrogs uniform, amid a 16-1 June victory against the Kalamazoo Growlers, Howell finished with three hits, three runs, a home run, and four RBI.
From Brentwood, California, Howell transitioned to Nevada from Chabot College. In 2014, he sported a slash line of .292/.464/.571 before his monster summer season for the Bullfrogs.
Group tickets, season tickets and 7-game packages are on sale now. The Bullfrogs off-season hours are Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. For more information please visit www.greenbaybullfrogs.com.
