Houston Rockets Assign Patrick Beverly to NBA D-League Affiliate Rio Grande Valley Vipers

NEW YORK, Jan. 7, 2013 - The Houston Rockets today assigned guard Patrick Beverly to the Rio Grande Valley Vipers, Houston's NBA Development League affiliate. The assignment is the record 99th of the 2012-13 NBA and NBA D-League seasons, while Beverly becomes the record 48th NBA player to have been assigned this season.

Originally drafted in the second round (49th overall) of the 2009 NBA Draft by the Los Angeles Lakers, and later traded to the Miami Heat, Beverly (6-1, 185, Arkansas) was signed by the Rockets earlier today.

Named SEC Freshman of the Year in 2007, Beverly also earned Second-Team All-SEC honors that year.

Beverly is expected to join the Vipers today and be available when the team takes on the Fort Wayne Mad Ants at 1 p.m. ET on Wednesday, Jan. 9 in a 2013 NBA D-League Showcase game in Reno, Nev. The game will be nationally televised on NBA TV.
